Members of Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 3-10 (Callao, VA) provided VIP escort service by ferrying distinguished guests to the U.S. Coast Guard Training ship The “Barque EAGLE”.  The VIPs were shuttled from Coast Guard Station St. Inigoes to near Point Lookout, Maryland where the EAGLE was anchored.

EAGLE was on her way to dry dock at Baltimore after finishing a world tour.  During that cruise, 63 officer candidates and 22 National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Officers-in-training experienced 5 functional areas of shipboard life: deck, operations, engineering, damage control and support.

At 295 feet in length, the EAGLE is the largest tall ship flying the Stars and Stripes, and the only active square rigger in U.S. government service.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary is the civilian volunteer arm of the United States Coast Guard and administers the public programs such as recreational boating safety courses, courtesy vessel inspections, safety patrols and environmental safety monitoring.

For more information about the EAGLE, the Coast Guard, the Coast Guard Auxiliary and specifically Flotilla 3-10, call Judy Julian at 804-580-6765 or Joe Riley at 804-472-4721.
