February 08, 2010: Flotilla 3-10 Announces Its Boating Safety Class Schedule
Flotilla 3-10, “Callao,” which provides boating safety education on the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula in providing boating safety education will begin new boating safety classes this month. The Flotilla plans to conduct its “About Boating Safely” course as well as a “Introduction to Navigation and GPS,” a uniquely designed program for local boaters.
These courses fulfill an important requirement, as new legislation enacted in 2007 for the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries requires all persons under the age of 35 who want to operate a personal water craft (PWC) to take a boating safety course by July 1, 2010. Between now and 2016 boaters of all ages who want to operate motorozied water craft will be required to complete safety training.
The basic course, “About Boating Safely,” is scheduled at the following locations on the dates and times indicated:
Callao: Saturday, February 20, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Bank of Lancaster
Tappahannock, March 27, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Essex County School Board Office
Montross: Saturday, April 24 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Callao: Saturday, May 22 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Bank of Lancaster
